Watch out for people who offer to “help” you by taking over the deed to your house or by taking over your mortgage payments.  Mortgage rescue plans are almost always fraudulent.  “Sale and Leaseback with options to buy” transactions are almost always fraudulent.  People have gone to jail for engaging in this activity.  Both Illinois and Wisconsin have passed legislation to protect you against this.
